I. GitHub Student Developer Pack (Do This First)
Before applying for any other student service, your top priority should be GitHub Student Developer Pack. One application unlocks the student-benefit gateway for 80+ partner tools.
Official application portal: education.github.com/pack
Eligibility
- Currently enrolled students age 13 or above (high school, university, master’s, and PhD students are all eligible)
- You need to provide a school email (.edu.tw) or upload proof of enrollment (student ID, enrollment certificate)
- You need a personal GitHub account
- Review usually takes about 1-7 business days. Students from major universities across Taiwan can apply, and re-verification is required every two years
1. GitHub Pro + Codespaces + Certification Voucher
Benefit: Free (while enrolled) Link: education.github.com/pack
Unlimited private repos, advanced collaboration features, 3,000 Actions minutes per month, 180 hours of Codespaces cloud development environment, and 2GB of Packages storage. It also includes one free GitHub certification voucher (choose Foundations or Copilot, valid until 2026/6/30).
Application tutorial:
- Create a GitHub account — Go to github.com and sign up. It is recommended to use your main personal email first, then add your school email afterward.
- Go to the application page — Visit education.github.com/pack and click “Get your Pack.”
- Choose student status — Select “Student,” then choose your school. Universities in Taiwan can usually be found by searching the English school name.
- Verify your student status — Choose one of two methods: (1) add your .edu.tw school email to GitHub → Settings → Emails → add the school email and verify it; or (2) upload proof of enrollment (front photo of student ID, PDF enrollment certificate).
- Fill out the application form — Explain how you plan to use GitHub. English is fine, for example: “I want to learn software development and build portfolio projects.”
- Wait for review — Usually 1-7 business days. You will receive an email when approved. If rejected, upload clearer proof documents and try again.
Q: What should I do if I get rejected? The most common reason is that the photo is unclear or the school name cannot be identified. Retake your student ID photo and make sure your name, school name, and valid date are clearly visible, then apply again.
Q: Can high school students apply? Yes. Any currently enrolled student age 13 or above can apply, including high school students.
Q: What if I can’t find my school in Taiwan? Try the full English name of the school or its abbreviation. If it still does not appear, upload proof of enrollment as an alternative verification method.
